APSACS PNL is the abbreviation of " Army Public Schools And Colleges System Pano Aqil Cantt ". APSACS is the only education system in Pakistan which is private or semi-private and it is run, operated, govern and maintained by the most prestigious institution of Pakistan, The Pakistan Army.
Not only it is the only education system maintained by Pakistani Army but it is THE only system with a unified system of education all over Pakistan. By unified I mean, all schools and colleges follow same syllabus, they teach same amount of courses to students of various grades, they conduct exams at the same time and date, each of the schools and colleges go through continuous check and balance twice or thrice a year, school syllabus is usually taken from Oxford University Press, teacher training programs are also conducted by Oxford University Press throughout the year to the teachers of school and college.
Being located in a remote area, majority of the teachers working here are wives of army personnel's. These ladies are not professional teachers so the teaching environment is more like a family setup sort of. The army wives, work here just to pass their spare time as they have nothing to do at home. They have servants, at home and in school/ college who take care of all there is to be taken care off even pampering their children. So, all in all they enjoy a great time at home and in school or college. On the other hand, civilian staff specially male civilian workers, pay the price through increased work load, working hours and punishments if something goes wrong in the shape of less pay or being fired from the job on a short notice of few hours. Children of army officers know this fact very well so majority of the trouble makers are the children of army officers but instead of receiving punishment themselves, the punishment has to be face by the children of civilian which is just ridiculous.
The selection criteria and procedure is also not clean or merit based. Preference is given to females with good looks, army wives or relatives of army personnel who are working in Pano Aqil cantt. All other teaching and non-teaching staff especially male candidates has to go through a stiff selection process which comprises of a few written tests, a handful of selection interviews taken by the principal, commander, brigadier and or commanding general. Even after this, they not sure whether to hire or fire the person so they hired civilians on ad-hoc basis (daily wagers) paying as little as possible (8k to 18k a month) for as minimum as 6 months after which they again think whether to hire or fire the person. This whole process usually ends up being rejected, not suitable, not desirable for the job. For 6 months, they enjoy having a full time worker, working full time on as little pay as possible, with no right to object or complain about anything. During those 6 months, they keep on looking for new candidates, willing to work hours on ad-hoc basis so, their search for new teaching and non-teaching staff never ends. They hire and fire civilians with the blink of their eyes just like the toilet paper. Whatever they publish in their advertisements, attractive salary, free messing, medical, quality food etc etc etc, the reality is completely different.
Pano Aqil cantt, unlike city is a neat and clean place. More like small towns of America with wide open roads, lush green side ways on both sides of the roads and in the middle of the road. Water filter plants for army personals situated on various locations in army housing schemes. Few but neatly laid out markets and shopping areas. Clean, pollution free environment. Lots of vegetation and farming inside and outside the cantt area where ever there is a open land. Parks, recreational facilities and food clubs only for army officers. Civilians are strictly forbidden to enter until or unless being invited or allowed to enter by some high ranking army officers. The whole area is going through a constant construction and re-construction process where, army is creating new facilities to facilitate its army persons and their families.
